Vernazza

We left Corniglia and the train ride was empty of people.  We soon learned that the boat service had resumed.  Corniglia doesn't have boat service so we decided to boat to Monterosso on Thursday.  Our room in the  Pensione Sorrison was across from the train station.  Hmm, could this spell trouble?

We decided to snack and then do some hiking.  Vernazza seems to have great views everywhere.  Vic and Jen decided to go take some pictures of the church up the hill.  I didn't want to go so I waited on the path.  Quite a bit of time had passed and I wondered if they were at Mass, had joined the convent, or had been taken.    I went after them and soon joined them.  They had been talking to a young fellow that was telling them about the area.

It didn't take long for us to get bit by mosquitos.  Poor Jen got the worst of it and was soon buying more cortisone.  Afterward I got pizza for Vic and me.  Jen wanted a Kalimari cone and got stung by a bee while waiting in line.  Definitely not her day!

We decided to go wading at the beach.  Vicky managed a toe in the water, me to my knees, and Jen to her shoulders.  As she was getting out, the guy next to her said, "look at the octopus."  It came to the rocks in pursuit of crabs.  We tried to take pictures of it.  Camera shy, it gave up its quest for crab.  As it was leaving, much to Jen's horror, it grabbed her leg.  "Ahhh" she exclaimed and
quit taking pictures with her phone.  Steve Irwin wouldn't have stopped!  She extricated herself from the octopus and the tale has been growing larger every since it happened.  I think the octopus knew she had been feasting earlier on Kalimari.

Tomorrow Monterosso:
